We had 6 sessions of gaming (5 hours each) just on those three islands. Once, they lost the siltskimmer Belamarash under the silt and the player surprised me by spending all his pfp on megakinesis to pull it out of the silt like Luke Skywalker with his X-wing.

We had great time with the war between the giants clans. The players and Hamanu retaineers were switching side and baiting the clans against one another. They were a lot of politics involved and since they were high level, they had a lot of ways to understand and talk the language of the giants. I added some backstory on the culture of each clans and players had to discover these backstory in order to manipulate the clans. Once, but the party and the Hamanu retaineers ended up prisoners to the goat head giant (who wanted to sacrifice them to their magma god, I don't remember if it was in the scenario or an idea I came up with). The players where able to escape and trap the Urikites behind (I made them escape later to make sure we have the final fight in Aarackle fortress).

The second island with all the volcanoes was epic, they were some close call there, with fight on ridge overlooking magma pit, almost killing the whole party. I had a big fight with an agent of the Order who tried to stop the party there.

The part travelling the mud flat on foot was also fun. I added more critters. A gaj made a big mess with the Mule gladiator brain.

The third island was like something straight out of Ravenloft.JasonKeayahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07115639777555828166noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4139498400908952220.post-52031719254797331752016-08-05T06:16:57.535-07:002016-08-05T06:16:57.535-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.JasonKeayahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07115639777555828166noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4139498400908952220.post-11803826536205077312016-08-05T06:00:51.827-07:002016-08-05T06:00:51.827-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.JasonKeayahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07115639777555828166noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4139498400908952220.post-90854264418803460692016-07-04T06:33:36.010-07:002016-07-04T06:33:36.010-07:00I played as DM in Dragon's Crown back in 1998....I played as DM in Dragon's Crown back in 1998. It was the first High-Level adventure for me. At that time I was very focused in run the adventure as it was written, so I had notes, graphs, fluxograms to help me at this. One curious thing I remember was that in the final module, the group found some not usual passage through the kitchen or service work and jumped straight to the final rooms. The previous encounters were all made when they were already getting out, and not paying much attention. Five of the eight players died after the mission was accomplished (a mage with invisibility and prismatic spray was responsible for three).
This adventure was a tremendous fun through hours of play. So the player had to share the magical carpet with Hamanu retainers and they were interesting conflict and roleplaying while the players and the retaineers tried to double-cross each other.

Really interesting adventure I liked it.JasonKeayahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07115639777555828166noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4139498400908952220.post-44245335096049675712015-03-24T15:37:24.127-07:002015-03-24T15:37:24.127-07:00i must ahve ran it 3-4 times it was great i am sti...i must ahve ran it 3-4 times it was great i am still running a dark sun campaign and at times i still use parts of dragon crown mountain. I seem to recall that psionicists could un-nerf by getting their hands on some of the "immunity tokens" the agents of the Order carried, but that might have come along pretty late in the adventure.
Richard Bakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10329182427795648081noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4139498400908952220.post-22584703260282182732015-03-10T15:30:26.351-07:002015-03-10T15:30:26.351-07:00Great blog post Richard! I remember the players of psionic characters were particularly upset that they were nerfed in the adventure. I've used bits and pieces of it in many later adventures.Raddu76https://www.blogger.com/profile/14985950422001076761noreply@blogger.com
